German Language Practice vs Preply and italki
Tutoring marketplaces sell you a person by the hour. We sell the exam room by the level. The mistake we see is people paying tutor rates to sit reading comprehension in silence — you can do that here for nothing on the free section, and spend the tutor hours on the thing only a human can do: speaking practice and correction.
Sound familiar?
- Hourly rates add up fast when the exam is months away.
- Not every tutor has telc or Goethe exam material, or knows the format.
- Booking across time zones is friction you do not need.
- You cannot practise a timed reading module with someone watching you.
How we help
Do the silent work alone
Reading, listening and writing under exam conditions cost you nothing per hour.
Bring your tutor real data
Arrive at a lesson with a scored mock and a specific weak module instead of "can we practise B1?"
Audio and scoring included
Native-speed listening in every mock, per-module marking on submission, and your writing graded against the official criteria.
Cheaper than two lessons
€1.12 per exam — €45 for three months of complete papers at every level.
What Preply and italki tutors does well
A good tutor is the single most effective thing you can buy in language learning. Personalised correction, real conversation, and someone who notices the mistake you keep making. Nothing here replaces that.

Our honest verdict
The efficient combination: our mock exams for everything you can do alone, and a handful of tutor hours aimed only at speaking and written feedback. That usually costs less than half of a tutor-only plan.
Pick your level
Five complete mocks per level, sat online on the official clock and scored the moment you submit. One mock at every level is free. One level is €29. All 40 mocks, every level, are €45 — €1.12 per exam.
Frequently asked questions
+Do I need a tutor to pass a German exam?
Not for A1 and A2, where most people self-study successfully. At B1 and B2 the speaking and writing modules benefit a lot from human feedback.
+How many tutor lessons do I actually need?
If you are using mock exams for the rest, four to six focused sessions on speaking and writing before the exam is usually enough.
+Can a tutor give me practice exams?
Some can. Many use the single free official Modellsatz, which you will finish in one sitting. Five full papers with audio is a different amount of material.
