Use case

German for the Integrationskurs and the DTZ exam

The Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer closes the integration course. It is a single exam that reports either A2 or B1, and that one letter decides whether you get the full Zertifikat Integrationskurs, and how soon you can apply for settlement or naturalisation. Same exam, very different outcome.

Sound familiar?

  • The course finishes and the exam arrives before you feel ready.
  • Landing at A2 instead of B1 costs you years on the residency timeline.
  • Course materials rarely include full timed papers with real audio.
  • The writing and speaking parts are graded by criteria nobody explained to you.

How we help

Practise at the B1 bar, not the A2 one

Work with B1 mocks so the DTZ grades you up, not down. The A2 mocks are there if you need to shore up the basics first.

Real listening audio

Announcements, phone messages and conversations at native speed — the DTZ listening section is unforgiving.

A plain-English DTZ guide

What the exam contains, how it is graded and what you need for the full integration-course certificate, with official BAMF links.

An honest score, every time

Each mock is marked the moment you submit, and your written answer is graded against the official criteria — no guessing where you stand.

Pick your level

Five complete mocks per level, sat online on the official clock and scored the moment you submit. One mock at every level is free. One level is €29. All 40 mocks, every level, are €45 — €1.12 per exam.

A2

Frequently asked questions

+Is the DTZ the same as telc B1?

No. The DTZ is a scaled exam that reports A2 or B1 from one sitting. It is close in format to telc A2/B1 material, which is why telc A2 and B1 practice papers are the standard preparation.

+What do I need for the full Zertifikat Integrationskurs?

Normally B1 in the DTZ plus a pass in the "Leben in Deutschland" test. Our DTZ guide links to the official BAMF pages.

+Can I retake the DTZ?

Integration course participants can usually repeat the exam once with funding after repeating course hours. Rules change, so confirm with your course provider or BAMF.
